This Christmas Eve, as I review my checklist for our European vacation, I am overwhelmed with a great sense of appreciation and gratitude to all our clients who have helped make this trip possible.

You see, I've been planning this trip since 1999 when I graduated from college, but for some reason or another, I just never made Europe a priority.

So this year, I placed the trip on my vision board and worked toward making it a reality. There were a lot of 16-hour workdays, along with many seven-day workweeks. Despite the fatigue on some days, I reminded myself that if I pushed a little harder, I could take the long-awaited trip this year.

For me, this trip is a realization that vision followed by hard work can and will make dreams come true.

From London, Paris, and Rome, we thank you for your love and support.

This past weekend we flew down to Texas to see Taylor Swift in concert with our nieces, Chanti, Ali and my sister Norma. The crowd of 42,000 people at Minute Maid Park was electrifying. To see their faces light up when Taylor hit the stage was simply priceless. I couldn't help but tear up thinking about the impact this one night is going to have on the trajectory of their lives.

For the past month I have felt overwhelmed and stressed running the studio. I was cranky and it seemed like I had lost that little pep in my step.

But then, Ashley Mayer and her family, Carla, Gary, and sister Megan, walked in and without them knowing, helped me realize the joy and blessings I have all around me.

Ashley was born with Down Syndrome. In February 2010, she was diagnosed with leukemia. After a lengthy stay for chemotherapy treatments at University Hospital in Columbia, the good news is Ashley’s leukemia is in remission. Even so, she is still undergoing maintenance chemo to try to keep the cancer at bay. Because she has Down Syndrome, Ashley’s body can’t withstand full-power chemo, so her doctors do monthly checks to make sure the leukemia cells aren’t coming back.

Through it all, Carla says Ashley has had the best attitude and has never lost her happiness and joy. Ashley’s classmates at Knox County High have played a key role. Carla admits they have her oldest daughter a little spoiled with all of the love and attention they give her.

You see, I believe people come into our lives to deliver messages…weather we are open to receive the message or guidance is up to us. Ashley and her family made me realize that life IS full of joy and fulfillment…if we chose for it to be. So thank you Ashley for helping me shed the stress and find my way back to happiness!

It's fun to watch Cole grow like a garden. As a newborn, he loved to sleep but now as a 4 month old he's all smiles and drool. To help bring that big smile forward, I would grab his feet and shake his legs violently! Without fail, he would burst into laughter.

Back in my television reporter days in Kansas City my favorite co-worker was Leslie Carto. She could make me laugh like no one else! Fast forward 7 years and she's married to Rusty Bergman and has a handsome little boy named William.

Pastor Jeremy Lobdell

When my world gets a little hectic and stressful, I spend a lot of time praying. Praying for guidance, enlightenment, and favor. In the past few weeks, I've been praying a lot.

Then, out of the blue, I got a phone call from Pastor Jeremy Lobdell. He was looking to book a session for some new head shots. He had a very calming and relaxing voice and attitude. When I hung up the phone, I felt a light bulb turn on in my head. Aha! That call was God's whisper to surrender the craziness and crankiness and watch it all work out.

Pastor Lobdell and I got to spend about an hour together working on some new casual, portraits. In the end, he prayed for God to rain down his blessings and guidance over me during this busy season.

Thanks Pastor Lobdell for being a messenger even though you thought you were just coming by for pictures.
